Custom jeans are extremely popular probably in all countries of the world. But some of the brands of customized denim are just astonishingly popular. Let us take a look at five most successful brands and try to find out why they are so popular.
The trend is dark denim, rough surface, soft washes and light embellishments – the perfect feminine look for all ages.
Canadian challenge is represented by Chip and Pepper brand. After all, made to measure jeans are rock and roll and rebellion, even if today they are worn in offices combined with sack coats. The creators of the brand Foster twins started to manufacture customized jeans and shoes in high school because of lack of money. Chip and Pepper create a CD, moderate a cartoon-show on NBC and are multi millionaires at the age of 20.
In their "Gulf-Punk" boutique in Los Angeles the brothers sell "smellies" – t-shirts, which smell like chocolate and vintage jeans, which they buy on the beach flea markets in the morning and furnish them until the evening. After a while they begin to design custom jeans themselves, creating jeans from new materials, but extremely worn-looking. The used-look of their clothes items flatters the taste of the decade, when vintage becomes en vogue.
Many people have created their custom tailored jeans lines, denim turned out to be dot-com-industry of the new millennium. However, only the few managed to be successful. The first jeans model by Chip and Pepper was called Walk of Shame, and since then every single pair of subculture jeans gets its own serial number. Stretch additives play an important role here, which increases much the comfort of wear in the case of tight silhouettes and second skin cuts.
Dutch brand "G-Star" was created in 1989 by Jos van Tilburg under the name of "Gapstar" and specializes on raw concept since 1996. These custom tailored jeans are made from raw, but very clean unwashed materials. In the Product Intelligence Center in Basel specialists create the jeans pants of tomorrow. Jeans are cut and smoothed, stonewashed, treated with electroshocks and wax there.
The changes lie rather in details like small label stitchings, rivets, targeted small destroyed parts, or new moderate washes. This summer season the brand presents an all-over-jeans-look including a handbag and beret made from denim. Jeans jackets complete practically every outfit. Streetwear-style brings the width with it – sleeves and trouser legs become wider, and white stitching become visible as sporty stripes, like in the case of "Studs loose handcrafted jeans" model and suiting "Core zip handcrafted jacket".
