The Dodge Stealth Profile
When you hear "Dodge Stealth", what comes to mind? Advertisements truck with a pair of hemi-obsessed rednecks? Muscle cars Tire-fusion? Or maybe Grandma '73 Dart with a 318 V8 You could not kill (no matter how much brake you've done with it)? What about a sports coupe with a V6 bi-turbo, all wheel drive and four wheel drive? For many people, is that the last union little hazy.
But in reality there was indeed a car - Dodge Stealth. Thanks to its alliance with Mitsubishi in the 1990's, the Dodge Stealth offered sports coupe, which, according to trim level, offered a show with plenty to go little, a lot of entertainment for the appointment or a lot of respectable show with lots of go.
Primarily a restyled version of the Mitsubishi 3000GT, the Stealth were driving in front or all wheels and powered by engines ranging from a mild 164 hp with a twin-turbo V6 with almost twice as much power. With its nose down, muscular thighs and broad stealth position has been a model of the early 90-cool.
The coolest was the 300 hp (later 320) twin-turbo Dodge Stealth R / T, which could work with sports cars the fastest of its time. The security of four-wheel drive is put at ease to do so, and strong adhesion, strong brakes and a style that turns heads in six years in a row, complete the package. In short, as the Dodge Stealth least bi-turbo, commanded respect.
However, it was not exactly a model of efficiency. Housed in a compact body that was inspired by an aircraft cockpit that could be overwhelming for taller people and a pair of rear seats are best left to carry sports bags. And the weight of the top bi-turbo, all wheel-drive versions, which also featured four wheels, went to 2 tons. Stealth also had a pronounced front weight bias that prevented feel agile, despite its management was completely competent. As an option for a used sports coupe, the Dodge Stealth is either a poser or a high performance car, with a wide gap between the two. Basic models striking appearance, but do not offer the same performance as their appearance. The moldings of the midline provide competent performance, but the R / T Twin Turbo that has properties to retain their exotic-car look. Potential buyers should note, however, that the complex nature of the caution that means more things can break, and purists in search of a sports car for greater participation would be better served by competitors such as cars Mazda RX-7 or the BMW M3.
Recent Dodge Stealth
Dodge Stealth ran from 1991-'96 and initially came in four trim levels: base, ES, R / T and R / T Twin Turbo. Basic versions were powered by a 3.0-liter V6 with 164 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. ES and R / T stepped up to the plate with a DOHC 24-valve version with 222 hp and 201 lb-ft of torque. R / T Twin Turbo 300 hp and boasted 307 lb-ft. Its performance was exciting, with zero to 60 km / h in just over 5 seconds.
All but the Turbo R / T Twin were front wheel drive and offer a choice of a five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic. The R / T Twin Turbo has four wheels and do not offer automatic transmission.
Cars that provides the foundation seems swoopy but little else. The ES provided the most powerful V6, alloy wheels and fog lights, 16 inches, while the R / T 17-inch alloy appears, a body kit (which gave him a look board size) rear spoiler, ABS, full power accessories, air conditioning and audio system. The R / T Twin Turbo additional horsepower, all-wheel drive and four wheels.
Dodge Stealth was a constant change over the years. After a bit 'all the content updates for 1993 (as usual leather R / T Twin Turbo), became the first major refresh in 1994. Replaced by a modified style of pop-up headlights projector unit and the interior received a second bag. ES structure was abandoned when the R / T Twin Turbo, has become even stronger with an artist to add 300-320 hp, the addition of 6-gear transmission and brake upgrade.
The following year, R / T Twin Turbo obtained alloy wheels 18 inches. The Stealth last year, 1996 brought a new rear spoiler, body-colored roof and R / T Twin Turbo selection of chrome rims. (Mitsubishi 3000GT remained in production until 1999.)
For serious driving enthusiasts, non-turbo stealth is a bit of a disappointment. However, the Stealth 222 HP can provide decent (and probably more reliable) alternative to the court as the national brand V6 Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro V6.
A condition can be found in good condition, the real incentive to buy Dodge Stealth R / T Twin Turbo. While the foundation remained intact throughout their execution, the 1994-96 models are somewhat more desirable because of the extra power and extra equipment in the transmission. Also be the R / T to a true all year round thanks to its sports car four-wheel drive traction.
