Fan Shrouds: Directing Air Through the Radiator
Driving a car as stylish and powerful as a Ford Mustang gives one a sense of pride on the road. As such, this Ford model has attracted a huge following.
Ford Mustang’s engine, no matter how hardworking it is, can still succumb to overheating. Overheating is one of the engine woes that greatly affect the operation of a vehicle. This problem is caused by the excessive heat generated by the engine’s fuel burning process. If cool air cannot flow freely into the engine, it might stop working. To lower the engine’s temperature, all vehicles are equipped with cooling systems.
The cooling system of Ford vehicles like the Ford Mustang is composed of a number of parts that work together to cool the engine. The radiator cannot cool the engine alone so it needs the help of other parts like the fan shroud. A key component in the cooling system of a Mustang car is the Ford Mustang Fan Shroud, the so-called finger guard that prevents the recirculation of hot air around the cooling fan. Also called the radiator shroud, the fan shroud is a plastic hood that encloses and protects the fan blades. It also keeps the fan blades from damaging other engine components. This setup makes the Ford Mustang fan shroud direct the hot air through the radiator core and prevent it from coming back to the cooling fan. As the fan shroud does this, it naturally helps in the concentration of cool air while it is being pulled by the cooling fan through the radiator.
The Ford Mustang fan shroud must be mounted properly for it to properly direct air through the radiator core. Therefore, regular checkup on this part’s condition should be done. Loose or worn out fan shrouds call for an immediate replacement.
